Dr. Ramesh Laungani, Associate Professor of Biology at Doane University, has been rockin' out Flipgrid in higher ed for two years! He is a passionate Flipgrid Certified Educator and Flipgrid Ambassador who contributes extensively to the Flipgrid community by providing ideas and feedback for the continuous evolution of Flipgrid. Ramesh connects his college environment with K12 students to bring rich experiences to their learning environment through Flipgrid. He also advocates for the recognition of women in STEM related fields by participating in the 1000 STEM Women Project, which encourages K12 students to pursue STEM-related fields. "Articulation" is the one word that comes to mind as Ramesh thinks about Flipgrid.
#Wednesday Wisdom from Ramesh
I use Flipgrid in all of my courses to help students articulate complex biological ideas orally. This allows me to see & hear where their misconceptions lie so that I can support their learning effectively.
Flipgrid has allows my students to develop the oral communication skills needed to explain concepts in succinct ways. The features of Flipgrid allow my students to think about their thinking and improve their response before submitting. Flipgrid has helped to improve their articulation skills in the science field for various audiences. As a result, students have even become a support for one another by sharing advice for success to students who will take the course in future semesters.
Use Flipgrid to connect with other classrooms to broaden perspectives, do not just use it to connect students within your classroom #sociallearning
