World Record Wednesday πŸ†

The following is a guest post from Flipgrid Student Voice Ambassadors Bronwyn Joyce, a Grade 5/6 Teacher from Traralgon, Victoria, Australia, Malinda Hurt, a Grade 7 English Teacher from Stillman Valley, Illinois, USA and Michael Drezek, a K-12 Technology Coordinator from Angola, New York, USA. The three of them make up the Our Global Classroom team.

It starts with you. It starts with us!
On May 9, 2018, you can be part of history! Our Global Classroom will aim for the student voice record books and attempt a World Record on Flipgrid. 24 Hours, all nations, all learners, across the globe, sharing the same message. We are calling on students, educators, digital citizens and global ambassadors to join together using your phone, tablet, or computer to record a message uniting The World. We don’t have long. 2030 is approaching. Share a global message. Share your hopes and dreams. For a better world. For a better future. Promoting the UN Global Goals is the beginning. It starts with you. It starts with us.

Why World Record Wednesday?
The year 2030 is approaching quickly and the Our Global Classroom team feel that many voices are needed to teach the world about the importance of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Global Goals. With the power of Flipgrid as a tool for amplifying student and educator voice, we can’t think of a better way to teach the world than from hearing from the world! To meet the SDGs, we MUST be ambitious. It is hard to take action when many aren’t aware of such goals. We want to change that with the help of Flipgrid! Our ambitious goal is 10,000+ voices spreading a message of hope across the world. We believe that with YOU, we can achieve this. We believe that with US, we can set a World Record and unite the world in just 24 hours. Our belief behind World Record Wednesday is what it will do for connecting voices and engaging people in world changing conversations.

We are challenging educators, students, digital citizens, global ambassadors and even world leaders to join the conversation that sparks action. Conversation to think global as a result of this experience.  Conversation to act local, improving your community and ultimately, our shared Global Classroom, the only ONE we have! We also ask you to share this experience with your family and community to take the learning beyond the classroom. Imagine if every school made this part of their learning experience for one day. We hope that it involves YOU because your voice and your actions matter.

All you need to start is to take a glimpse at the UN SDGs/Global Goals, think about the state of the world right now, think about a world we should see in 2030 if we achieve these goals and what we can do to make it happen!

It starts with YOU!
It starts with US!
