#WednesdayWisdom from Kimber Underdown
I teach future teachers in an online setting; oftentimes I never see my students. FlipGrid helps me actually see my students, hear their voices, and make personal connections with them. I use FlipGrid as an opportunity for these learners to respond to course discussion prompts, or to engage in FUN, which adult learners need just as much as young students do. I also use FlipGrid as a way to connect with my fellow professors and for professional development and collaboration. It has been an amazing tool and truly a game-changer for me, as an online professor.
My learners have shared that they feel more connected and more cared about through the use of FlipGrid. I have had nothing but positive feedback from students stating they wish ALL their professors used it. I have even been contacted after class has ended and asked if I would please share Flipgrid with other professors.
Have fun. It's easy to get caught up in "shoulds" and what "ought" to be discussed on FlipGrid. Start out by having fun, and your students will, too. In fact, I find that the more fun I have with Flipgrid, the more student interaction and positive feedback I get.
